Hostel description:

The Hostel is located on beautiful Waiheke Island which is only a short 35 minute ferry ride from central Auckland. Here you can relax and enjoy the plentiful sunshine or take part in many of the exciting activities available on the island. Location:

The Youth hostel on Waiheke is situated mid way along the Island on the Northern side at Onetangi.

From the Airport catch the AIRBUS, which runs every 20 minutes; get off at downtown Auckland, opposite the ferry terminal. Get the next ferry and when you arrive on Waiheke, get on the ONETANGI bus and get off at the last stop, walk up the steps and the Hostel is 50 metres on your right.

Rooms:

The Hostel Rooms are generally made up of twin bunk rooms, (2 people in 1 set of bunks per room). There are also a number of doubles and an en-suite double available. A comfortable lounge, fully equipped kitchen with ample showers and toilets, provide you with all of your practical needs that will give you the opportunity to kick back, relax and smell the flowers. With only 40 bed places available, This hostel works on a first name basis with all guests and staff, indeed sometimes it\'s hard to tell who is who.

Activities:

Waiheke Island offers the perfect opportunity to find a little peace and solitude during your travel programme. The Island offers a relaxing scenic environment just a 35 minute ferry trip from downtown Auckland. The ferry ride itself is the beginning of your experience, as you leave the harbour, with the naval base at Devonport on your left then on past Rangitoto and Motutapu islands also on your left and opposite them are Brown\'s and Motuhuie Islands. Before you Matiatia opens up, the harbour of Waiheke Island. Buses meet all ferries and travel to all the main locations on the Island.

A number of artists now live on the island and it is possible to watch the potter, the sculptor and other artists at their craft.
